Valentine’s Day Triple Heart Wreath
You only need a few items to make this Valentine’s Day heart wreath! The “ruffles” are formed by folding circles of felt. It’s super simple to make but it takes time and patience to cut out all the circles by hand. This is a great project for a rainy day or a quiet night at home.
What do you need to make a Valentine’s Day wreath?
- Styrofoam Heart Wreath forms in 3 sizes
- White, Red & Pink Felt (about 1 yard each)
- Straight Pins
- 1 1/2″ Wide Ribbon
- Scissors
- 3″ Circle Template
How to make a Valentine’s Day wreath
I found all my supplies at Hobby Lobby, and used a glass from the kitchen to trace a 3″ circle template that I cut from a piece of cardboard. Anything close to 3″ will work — it doesn’t have to be exact. I honestly didn’t count how many circles I cut but it was a lot. That’s the most time consuming part of this project.
To make the “ruffles,” fold a felt circle in half and then in half again. Stick a straight pin through the bottom of the point and then stick it into your wreath form.
Then continue to randomly pin folded circles into the wreath form about 1″ apart until it’s fully covered. I pinned folded circles on the front and back of the wreath form so it would look pretty from both sides, but if you have a solid door you could opt to leave the back uncovered.
Next cut two pieces of 1.5″ wide ribbon that are 7″ long. Then use straight pins to attach the ribbon to the bottom point of the largest heart, and attach the other end to the top of the medium sized heart. Repeat this process to attach the other piece of ribbon between the bottom of the medium heart and the top of the smallest heart.
Then make a loop out of a small piece of ribbon and pin it to the top of the largest heart. Now you have a loop for hanging. I hung my wreath from a small suction cup.
There are so many different ways you could do this project! You could make just one large wreath or hang them from smallest to largest. You could also mix colors together, or do an ombre effect with different shades of pink and red. Let me know how you’re going to make yours in the comments!
