Under Contract

I have such mixed emotions about the news I’m sharing today. We accepted a contract to sell our home, and I am overwhelmed with both excitement and sadness. We’re building a new home in an area of town we’ve wanted to move to for a long time.  It’s a larger, beautiful home where there are better schools and shopping and access to tons of family activities. We’re really excited about this new chapter in our lives, but our current home means so much to me that it’s going to be really hard to leave it behind.

Seriously, if I could just pick up this house and move it to the other side of town I would. Sure, there are a few things about it I would like to change but overall I am very proud of our home and have a lot of emotional investment in it. We built this house in 2005 and have been here for nine years. We’ve put an amazing amount of work into it. We brought both of our girls home from the hospital to this house. Our cat Cooper spent the majority of his life in this house, and most of our memories of him are here. It’s going to be very hard to say goodbye to this house that feels like a member of the family. I hope that the new family who comes to live here will love it and care for it as much as we have.

The new house won’t be ready until the fall. Although we’re supposed to close on the sale of our current home by July 1, we’ve negotiated to stay rent-free through Aug. 1 with the option to rent-back through mid-Oct.  We’re not sure yet if we’ll exercise the rent-back option or if we’ll move in with Robbie’s parents for a few months. Either way, at least we don’t have to rush out of here within the next few weeks, and will be able to take our time packing.  But the thought of packing, moving, and decorating a new house (and doing it all with 2 little kids!) is overwhelming so bear with me if the craft projects take a back seat for the next few months!
