Crocheted Owl Hats
These crocheted owl hats have seriously got to be the cutest hats I’ve ever made. The Audrey Hat takes the cake for being the prettiest but these win the prize in the cuteness category!
I made these for all the girls in the family and a couple of the younger boys for Christmas. The older boys got crocheted puppy dog hats. The free pattern, in sizes newborn to adult, is available here. Note that the pattern runs small in my opinion.
All shades of the yarn I used was by Red Heart. The brown on the top of the hats is called Cafe Latte, and the bottom of the hats were made with Light Raspberry, Orchid and Aruba Sea. Additional colors used for the eyes and braided tails were Caron Simply Soft in White and Pistachio. I made the eyes in a contrasting color and I also worked that color into the braids so that each hat has brown, white and two bright cheerful colors.

I let Sophie pick her color and of course she chose pink. I decided to make Audrey’s blue and I couldn’t resist making a purple one for myself so all three of us would have a matching set.
The girls were photographed in their hats when we had family pictures done in November. Audrey has already changed so much! These pictures were taken about a week before she started sitting up and now she’s crawling all over the place!
Stay tuned for a few more crochet projects I’ll share with you before the weather warms up….then it’s on to summer sewing!
