Tissue paper pom-poms are one of my favorite DIY party decorations. Today I’m going to show you how easy they are to make! When it comes to party decorations, tissue paper pom-poms make a big statement without breaking the bank. You can make these for less than $1!

Start with 10 sheets of tissue paper — mine measured 20×20. Stack the tissue paper up in a nice neat pile, and fold accordion style. Your fold should be about 1.5″ to 2″ wide. No need to measure…it doesn’t have to be exact.

Fold the stack in half to find the center, and wrap a wire around the middle of your pom-pom. I used a pipe cleaner to do this but jewelry wire also works well if you have that on hand.

Now your pom-pom will look like this:

Trim the ends with scissors into a round or pointed shape. For Audrey’s birthday party I rounded the ends which makes the pom-pom look more like a flower.

For Sophie’s Sesame Street Party I trimmed ends of the tissue paper pom-poms into a pointed shape.  You can see what that option looks like here.

Slowly start to fluff the tissue paper one piece at a time.

Once you have separated all the layers, fluff it into a ball shape and tie a piece of fishing line to the middle for hanging.
