Retro Ruffle Dress
Can you believe this dress is made from a couple pillowcases I picked up at the thrift store?!?! Toddler fashion for a total of $1.67! Seriously!

I used a tutorial by Simply Modern Mom but changed a few things. First, her tutorial is designed for an 18 month size dress and I needed a bigger one for 3 year old Sophie. The solution was just using 2 pillowcases so you can cut the trim and ruffles from one pillowcase and the dress from the other. Here is Sophie modeling the dress, along with a flower hair clip that totally doesn’t match. But try telling that to a 3 year old….

I also added a thin border on the bottom of my dress to coordinate with the ruffle and neck trim.

And finally, I cut the neck trim on the bias as I found that it would curve around the neck better without any puckering. The back of the dress has a button closure for easy on-easy off. I just happened to have this button in my stash that matches perfectly.

Another successful thrift store refashion!
