Men’s Crocheted Spike Stitch Hat
I crocheted Robbie a hat last month and the snow and ice we had on Wednesday was the perfect opportunity for him to wear it.
It was made using the free Aspen Ski Hat crochet pattern. It’s an intermediate pattern so was a bit more challenging. The hat is made with single and double crochet stitches as well as a spike stitch. I had never done a spike stitch before but found it to be very easy to do. The challenge to the pattern is more so the placement of the stitches rather than the type of stitches used.
Robbie picked out the colors himself, inspired by the Clemson Tigers team colors of orange and purple. I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in white, grey heather, and plum perfect and Red Heart Soft in tangerine.

He got a lot of use out of the hat this week with the cold weather we’ve been having.
We even had enough snow to make a small snowman and have a snowball fight!
It was Audrey’s first experience with snow and she loved it!
