How to Turn a Onesie into a Dress
Sophie has outgrown some old onesies that still had some life in them. When I saw this Turn a Onesie into a Dress tutorial I knew it would be the perfect project to get more wear out of them. This is what I created:
It was very easy to do. Simply cut off the bottom of the onesie, gather a folded piece of knit fabric that’s 4 1/2″ tall (or 9″ unfolded) and twice the width of the bottom of the onesie, and then sew it onto the bottom of the onesie. Folding it and sewing along the raw seam eliminates the need to hem! These make a great swimsuit cover up too!
Here’s Sophie strutting her stuff in her new dress!
I also made these coordinating knit flowers hair accessories from the left over fabric using this tutorial. I made my own templates for the flowers and used 2 difference sizes.
To turn them into hair accessories I cut a circular shaped piece of felt and hot glued it to the back. Then hot glued an alligator clip on.
Wondering what that white stuff is under the alligator clip for the pink flower? I’ve found that shelf liner is great for keeping hair bows from sliding out of fine baby hair. You can hot glue that on too, but place a piece of wax paper between the strip of shelf liner and the top of the alligator clip while it dries so that it doesn’t get glued shut.
