Furrylicious Crocheted Boots
Don’t you love these loopy little boots??? These crocheted boots are made with a loop stitch, which I’d never done before but turned out to be really easy once I got the hang of it. You basically just insert your crochet hook into a stitch, loop the yarn over your finger, pull both strands of the looped yarn though the stitch, yarn over and draw through all three loops on the hook.
Oh boy, oh boy did I spend about 3 times the amount of time on this project than I should have! The end result turned out so cute but my goodness I drove myself crazy with mistakes. Since Audrey is 9 months old, I started out making the 6-12 month size, which the pattern indicates should measure 4.5 inches. Her foot measures 4 inches so I opted to use a E hook rather than the F hook the patterns calls for, hoping that would bring the size down to about 4.25 inches. It worked and I had a 4.25 inch sole but I didn’t count on the fact that the body of the boot will stretch and add more wiggle room. I crocheted one whole boot, then tried it on her and realized that it was way too big! The weather will be warming up around here in a month so I couldn’t console myself that she would grow into it.
So I started over with the 0-6 months size which had a more Cinderella-like ending. But unfortunately I crocheted the button placket too far off to the side on one of the boots so that the buttons were closer to the front on one boot but totally centered on the side of the other boot. This was all the result of making a mistake in the stitch I selected to start crocheted the top portion of the boot in. Of course, I didn’t notice this until I was completely done! Have mercy!
But they’re all done now. And they’re cute and perfect! Only problem is as soon as I put them on her Audrey starts pulling at the loops and trying to chew on them so I basically did all that work for just a photo op!
I’ve tried so hard to get a picture of her wearing the boots but she pulls them off almost immediately to play with the loops. This is the best I could do!
If you want to some loop stitch boots of your own, the Furrylicious Boot pattern can be purchased on Etsy. It’s available in a 0-6 months / 6-12 month size and also a larger toddler pattern. The yarn I used was Caron Simply Soft in Soft Pink.

So what to do with the one lone 6-12 month boot? Rip it out and reuse the yarn for another project? Or make another that she can wear next year? She’ll be walking by then and it concerns me that the the bottom doesn’t have any traction. I don’t want her to slip and fall. Anyone have any ideas on how to add rubber soles to a crocheted shoe???
