Family Photos 2016 + Ombre Chevron Dresses
We took family photos recently on the beach on Sullivan’s Island. Sophie and Audrey wore updated versions of the Ombre Chevron Dresses featured in this post but this time I used McCalls pattern 7148. The style is almost identical to the original dresses but the circle neckline fits so much better with the McCalls pattern.

I didn’t have any more of the dark teal fabric I used on the neckline for the original dresses but was able to find a bright aqua polka dot fabric that coordinated perfectly. I trimmed the arm holes with bias tape I made from the same aqua fabric, and finished the dress with a rick rack hem. There’s a tutorial in the Garden Party dress post on how to sew a rick rack hem. I used this tutorial to make their hair bows.
We had the photos taken in the hour before sunset. Look how gorgeous the sky was! They had so much fun playing in the water and sand and it shows in their smiles!
