Sweetheart Halter Top
Is there time to share one last summer sewing project before summer is all over???
I purchased Peek a Boo Pattern Shop’s Sweetheart Halter Top pattern when it was on sale recently. I made one for Audrey using the same fabric that I made her flamingo dress from. The pattern is very easy to sew, and perfect for the summer heat! It has elastic in the back and ties at the neck which makes it easy to get on and off and provides a perfect fit.
Audrey is 15 months old and currently wears an 18 month size. I decided to make the Sweetheart Halter in a 2T size so she could get some more use out of it next summer. I sewed a wide hem and added a little pleat under the pink rectangle in the front where the bodice is cinched in to make it small enough for her to wear this summer as well.
The neck tie is made using a long piece of 2.5″ wide fabric cut on the bias, but to make it even easier you could use extra wide double fold bias tape instead. If you make this alteration, you would just have to use a smaller width of elastic than the 3/4″ size the pattern calls for.
The pattern is available in sizes 6 months to 12 years so this top will be a summer staple for years to come!
