Family Photos 2017 + Flirty Floral Dresses
We had our family pictures taken this year in downtown Charleston. I had a hard time choosing the exact location because there are so many pretty places downtown. We ended up parking on Church Street and wandered around from there with our photographer.
This was not the easiest photo session. It was hot, muggy and we were nearly eaten alive by mosquitoes! The combination of it all made the girls cranky, but thankfully we still got some good shots. This picture of Sophie & Audrey taken on the steps of the Dock Street Theater is one of my all time favorite photos of them!
I made the girls dresses again this year, although I’m afraid this may be the last year I can get away with dressing them alike. Sophie was not having it! I’m calling these the Flirty Floral Dresses based on the fun floral fabric I used, which I found at Joann’s. I made them with the Simplicity 1433 pattern. These dresses have a fun crinoline liner that peeks out from the hemline and makes the skirt super full. Unfortunately, it was slightly itchy, and I heard about it throughout the photo session! But they did have fun twirling in them.
After taking pictures at the Dock Street Theater we wandered down the street to the gates at the St. Philip’s Church graveyard. The girls couldn’t resist peeking in.
These photos were taken on the cobblestones of Chalmers Street. Thank goodness I wore flats!
These cool wooden doors on Queen Street made for a unique backdrop.
And last but not least we we took some photos on Philadelphia Alley.
