The Julia Dresses

I adore these simple white monogrammed dresses I made for Sophie and Audrey’s fall portraits. The dresses probably would’ve been better suited for spring portraits but with as warm as it’s been around here it may as well be spring! The white fabric with a subtle pattern of little pink polka dots was the perfect background for monogrammed initials. I used the Grand Monogram from Planet Applique.

They just recently started attending a new preschool closer to where we’re building our new house. We’ve been on a waiting list and spots opened up that we had to grab while they were available. They’ve made friends quickly and settled right in, easing my worries about them transitioning to a new school.

The new preschool does portraits outside which is so much nicer than the backdrops used at their former preschool. I was really happy with how the photos turned out, although Audrey was very serious that day…

I made these monogrammed dresses using a tutorial from The Mother Huddle but sadly it doesn’t look like the link is active anymore. If someone can find a copy of the tutorial out there somewhere, please let me know so I can give proper credit! The only thing I changed was adding rick rack trim under the bodice and hem which I think gave it a dressier look. My Garden Party Dress post has a tutorial on how to add rick rack to the hem.
